DL Mack’s Opens in West Village: Chicago’s Best Pizza Tradition Lands in Uptown Dallas

The beloved Dallas pizza institution brings its signature cracker-thin crust, icy martinis, and neighborhood tavern energy to Uptown — opening Wednesday, March 4.

DL Mack's Pizza Dallas
The combo that built the brand: cracker-thin crust, square-cut slices, and an ice-cold martini. Welcome to West Village.

West Village just got a whole lot tastier. DL Mack’s, the Chicago tavern-style pizza spot that has quietly become one of Dallas’s most beloved dining institutions, opens its third local location this Wednesday, March 4 at 3699 McKinney Ave., Suite 106 — taking over the former Midici space in the heart of Uptown Dallas.

If you haven’t been to DL Mack’s yet, consider this your sign.

What Is DL Mack’s?

DL Mack’s describes itself as a classic American neighborhood tavern with deep roots in Chicago’s dining culture. The centerpiece of the menu is their Chicago tavern-style pizza — a cracker-thin crust cut into squares (yes, squares — the correct way, if you ask any Chicagoan) with bold toppings and a satisfying snap on every bite. Think of it as the anti-deep-dish: lighter, crispier, and endlessly snackable.

The menu boasts an elevated take on classic American dishes inspired by timeless Windy City eateries, served in a comfortable old-world setting. Beyond pizza, you’ll find the kind of menu that makes a place a neighborhood regular — think classic chicken tenders, Italian sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, and a cocktail program built around one signature obsession: the martini.

The West Village Location

The new West Village outpost occupies 4,600 square feet at 3699 McKinney Avenue, Suite 106 — the former Midici space. The location feels almost predestined: a space that previously housed one pizza concept now gets one of Dallas’s best.

Decor is a throwback to a retro Chicago-style pizzeria, with a nostalgic color scheme of white, black, maroon, and kelly green; Tiffany-style lighting pieces; artwork showcasing historic Chicago scenes; and sports memorabilia. Walk in and you’ll feel like you’ve been coming here for years — which is exactly the point.

The West Village location also boasts a large bar, purpose-built for the kind of leisurely afternoon drink that turns into a full evening without you noticing.

What’s on the Menu

The pizza lineup at the West Village location includes some exclusives not found at other DL Mack’s locations. Standouts include:

  • Honey Truffle Chicken — white sauce, chili flakes, arugula
  • Return of the Mack — sausage, a house classic
  • Famous Chicken Tenders — because some things are non-negotiable

On the drinks side, in addition to martinis, the bar serves hand-crafted classics such as The Gimlet, Manhattan, Paloma, Peach Bellini, and more.

Leather booths, brick walls, and Chicago nostalgia on every inch. DL Mack’s feels like a neighborhood spot you’ve had for years — on day one.

Happy Hour — Daily

Here’s the detail your wallet will appreciate: happy hour runs daily from 4–6 pm at the bar, with $10 martinis and half-price wine. Every single day. In West Village. That’s a gift.

The Vandelay Effect

DL Mack’s is part of Vandelay Companies, the Dallas hospitality group led by founder and CEO Hunter Pond, whose portfolio includes Hudson House, East Hampton Sandwich Co., Drake’s Hollywood, Brentwood Restaurant & Bar, and The Anchor Bar.

Vandelay continues to expand its Uptown presence — the tenth Hudson House recently opened in West Village, and Ten Ramen is slated to open later this year. West Village is quickly becoming Vandelay’s home turf, and DL Mack’s is the latest piece of that puzzle.

“We’re excited to contribute to its vibrant dining scene,” says Pond. “DL Mack’s will not only bring distinct energy and flavor to the area, but also complement the existing tenant mix by offering elevated yet approachable dining experiences.”

A Quick History

DL Mack’s made its debut at 6501 Hillcrest Ave. in 2021, and a second location followed at Preston Royal in 2022. The West Village opening marks the brand’s Uptown debut — and its most visible location yet, right on McKinney Avenue where foot traffic is constant and the audience is hungry.
