This Advertising Policy explains our standards for ad content, placement, and relationships with advertisers.
1. Purpose of Advertising
Advertising allows us to:
- Keep our newsletter free for readers
- Promote local Dallas businesses and events
- Support the growth of independent local journalism and community initiatives
We believe advertising should be clear, honest, and relevant — never misleading or intrusive.

All advertising and sponsorships are subject to our review and approval before publication.
3. Editorial Independence
- Our editorial content is not for sale.
- Advertising and sponsorship do not influence which stories, events, or businesses we feature.
- Sponsored placements are labeled clearly and kept visually distinct from editorial material.
We adhere to FTC guidelines on native advertising and disclosure.
4. Advertising Review Standards
We reserve the right to decline or remove any advertisement that:
- Contains false, misleading, or deceptive claims
- Promotes illegal products or services
- Includes hate speech, discrimination, or offensive content
- Competes directly with our mission or undermines community trust
Advertisers must ensure their ads comply with all applicable laws and platform rules (including Meta, Google, and Beehiiv policies).
5. Programmatic and Affiliate Ads
We may use networks such as:
- AdQuire Media (for newsletter ads and lead-generation campaigns)
- Amazon Associates and similar affiliate programs
- Future display ad networks (e.g., Google AdSense)
These partners may use cookies or tracking pixels to measure ad performance.

6. Metrics and Reporting
Advertisers may receive anonymized performance data such as:
- Open rates, click-through rates, impressions, or reach
- Conversion metrics for affiliate or sponsored offers
We never share individual subscriber data or personal information.
7. Refunds and Cancellations
Advertising bookings are confirmed upon payment.
Cancellations or reschedules must be requested at least five (5) business days before the scheduled publication date.
Refund eligibility will be determined case-by-case.
8. Liability and Indemnification
While we take care to ensure accurate ad delivery, First in Dallas is not responsible for:
- Errors or omissions in third-party ad content
- Consequences of technical issues, delays, or partner system failures
Advertisers agree to indemnify TFS LLC against any claims arising from their ad content.
